Force majeure refers to the unforeseeable, unavoidable and insurmountable objective circumstances (non-human factors) that occur when the school performs its obligations, including natural disasters, epidemic outbreaks, and sudden diseases. In response to such situations, the school has formulated a special response plan, which is as follows:
1. Teachers and students cannot return to school due to the epidemic or other force majeure
The school uses the "Guangying Smart Teaching Platform" to implement online teaching, supporting the "Online Teaching Implementation Plan of Guangzhou College of Applied Science and Technology" and "Online Teaching Management Measures of Guangzhou College of Applied Science and Technology". All course resources (including teaching videos, courseware, syllabus, lesson plans, handouts, learning materials) can be obtained through the platform, supporting check-in, Q&A, homework submission and correction, interactive communication, live teaching and other functions.
2. Test arrangements affected by force majeure
- Offline test: Continue to use batch test mode to avoid personnel gathering.
- Online assessment: non-Unity tests, assignments and papers can be submitted through the teaching platform and corrected online by teachers.
- Application for delayed examination: Students who cannot return to school due to force majeure can submit an application for delayed examination and upload supporting materials through the educational administration system. After being reviewed by the secondary college and approved by the Academic Affairs Office, the delayed exam will be arranged at the beginning of the following semester, and a different set of exam papers will be used.
- Make-up Policy: Students who miss exams due to force majeure can apply for make-up exams within the four-year study period without affecting graduation eligibility.
3. The closure of libraries/laboratories has led to difficulties in the distribution of teaching materials
- Digital resources: Open "Super star e-book", CNKI and other online resources.
- Virtual experiment: Each specialty is equipped with a virtual simulation experiment platform.
- Electronic teaching materials: Provide electronic teaching materials, instructions and courseware related to the course through the teaching platform.
4. Countermeasures for blocking off-campus practical training courses
Dynamic adjustment of off-campus training arrangements according to local epidemic prevention requirements:
- Implementation in batches: prioritizing training in low-risk areas.
- Postponement: If the course cannot be implemented, adjust the start plan.
- Credit substitution: When courses cannot be offered during the semester, graduation requirements are met by adding mutually recognized credit courses.
5. Mechanism for teachers to deal with unexpected inability to teach
- Temporary leave: Teachers who temporarily leave due to illness, extreme weather, etc., shall handle the course transfer procedures through the Administrative Measures of Teaching Mediation Course of Guangzhou College of Applied Science and Technology, and notify the students after review by the secondary college.
- Long-term absence: If the class cannot be taught for a long time due to sudden illness, epidemic isolation or resignation, the secondary school will coordinate and arrange substitute teachers to ensure the teaching progress. The Teaching Supervision Office of the Academic Affairs Office will follow up on the teaching quality.
The University will promptly release policy adjustment information through the campus network, enterprise WeChat and class groups to ensure the stability of teaching order.
